Job Bid

A job bid is an employee's formal expression of interest in an available internal role or assignment under an established process. Some workplaces use bidding rules in a collective agreement.

Example

An employee submits a bid for an available shift role, and the employer applies the published criteria or relevant negotiated rules.

What to keep in mind

Bidding does not always mean the highest seniority or first applicant wins. Check the governing process and distinguish job bidding from a commercial contractor's price bid.
