Learning Management System

A learning management system, or LMS, administers learning activities and records participation or results. Common functions include enrolment, course delivery, reminders, assessments and completion reporting.

Example

An employer assigns required induction modules to new starters and uses its LMS to identify who has completed them and who needs follow-up.

What to keep in mind

An LMS record shows what the system captured, not necessarily workplace competence. Check accessibility, reporting accuracy and whether employees can complete learning during an appropriate time.
