Payroll Processing

Payroll processing calculates and records employee earnings, deductions and net pay for a pay period. It usually includes input checks, calculations, approval, payment and payslip production.

Example

A payroll officer imports approved attendance and salary changes, reviews exceptions, calculates deductions and prepares the payment file for authorised approval.

What to keep in mind

Check source data and reconcile totals before release. A system can calculate correctly from incorrect inputs, so automation does not remove the need to verify changes and investigate unusual results.
