Strategic HR

Strategic HR is the practice of shaping employment policies and workforce decisions around an organisation's longer-term goals. It connects day-to-day HR work with choices about growth, costs and capability.

Example

If a manufacturer plans to automate a production line, HR assesses affected jobs, retraining options and the skills required to operate the new equipment.

What to keep in mind

Strategic work still needs reliable administration. Separate an intended outcome, such as fewer unfilled specialist roles, from an activity, such as launching a recruitment campaign, when reporting progress.
