Talent Philosophy

A talent philosophy states an organisation's beliefs about how people develop, perform and progress. It influences decisions about potential, accountability, rewards and access to career opportunities.

Example

An employer states that most specialist roles should have internal development routes and requires managers to discuss those routes with eligible employees.

What to keep in mind

Check whether actual decisions follow the stated beliefs. A philosophy that promises development for everyone but funds opportunities only for a small undisclosed group creates inconsistent expectations.
