Workers’ Compensation

Workers' compensation is a system providing specified benefits for qualifying work-related injury or illness. The term is common in the United States, where systems and coverage vary by jurisdiction.

Example

An employee reports a workplace injury and the employer follows the relevant notification and claims process while arranging appropriate immediate support.

What to keep in mind

Eligibility and benefits depend on the governing scheme, not just the employer's policy. Do not confuse workers' compensation with ordinary salary, general health insurance or identical arrangements in other countries.
