Workplace Ethics

Workplace ethics concerns the principles and judgement used to decide what is appropriate at work. It includes honesty, fair treatment, responsible use of information and managing conflicts of interest.

Example

An employee declines to alter a report to hide an error and raises the issue through an appropriate channel despite pressure to meet a target.

What to keep in mind

Ethical decisions are influenced by incentives and leadership behaviour. A code alone is insufficient if employees are rewarded for misleading results or fear consequences for reporting a legitimate concern.
