Bias Free Hiring

Bias-free hiring is an aspiration to minimise unfair influence in recruitment decisions. In practice, employers use structured criteria and checks to reduce bias rather than claiming it can be completely eliminated.

Example

Interviewers score the same job-related questions independently before discussing candidates, reducing the influence of one confident panel member's first impression.

What to keep in mind

No process or software can guarantee freedom from bias. Review selection outcomes, assessment relevance and candidate feedback, and investigate patterns rather than treating a standardised form as sufficient proof of fairness.
