Candidate Experience

Candidate experience is how a person perceives their interactions with an employer during recruitment. It includes the application process, communication, assessments, interviews and the handling of outcomes.

Example

An applicant receives clear interview instructions, an accessible assessment and a decision within the promised timeframe, even though they are not selected.

What to keep in mind

A positive experience does not require offering everyone a job. Clear expectations, reasonable demands and respectful communication matter, and feedback from withdrawn or rejected candidates can reveal avoidable problems.
