Executive Search

Executive search is targeted recruitment for senior or highly specialised roles, often involving direct research and outreach. It may be carried out internally or by a specialist firm.

Example

A board appoints a search firm to identify candidates for a chief financial officer role and assess relevant leadership and financial experience.

What to keep in mind

Define confidentiality, conflicts, assessment responsibilities and fees. A search firm's recommendation still requires the employer to evaluate evidence, references and the requirements of the particular role.
