Exit Management

Exit management is the overall coordination of an employee's departure, including approvals, communication, handover and administrative closure. It often includes the offboarding process and arrangements for different exit types.

Example

HR coordinates a resignation date with the manager, confirms notice arrangements and tracks completion of payroll, equipment and record updates.

What to keep in mind

The terms exit management and offboarding overlap. Define ownership and deadlines locally, and distinguish resignation, dismissal, retirement and contract expiry because their procedures and obligations may differ.
