Green-Circling

Green-circling generally identifies pay below the minimum of the applicable range. Employers may use it to flag salaries needing review or adjustment under their compensation policy.

Example

A pay audit finds an employee's salary below the approved band minimum and investigates whether a correction or documented exception is required.

What to keep in mind

Terminology can vary, so define it locally. Check minimum-wage obligations separately and avoid assuming that an internal range exception makes a legally insufficient salary acceptable.
