Grievance Handling

Grievance handling is the process for receiving, investigating and responding to an employee's workplace complaint. It should provide a fair route to raise concerns and review decisions.

Example

An employee complains about inconsistent shift allocation, and an impartial reviewer gathers relevant records, hears the parties and communicates the outcome.

What to keep in mind

Explain confidentiality limits, expected steps and appeal options. A grievance process should not expose the employee to retaliation, and serious allegations may require a specialist or separate statutory procedure.
