Internal Complaints Committee

Internal Complaints Committee, often now called the Internal Committee, refers to the workplace body that handles complaints under India's law on sexual harassment of women at work where required.

Example

An employer communicates the committee's contact details and ensures a complaint reaches the appropriate body rather than an informal panel without the required authority.

What to keep in mind

Check current rules on constitution, membership, independence and procedure. A general HR committee is not automatically a valid statutory committee, and not every workplace complaint belongs within this body's jurisdiction.
