Job Analysis

Job analysis systematically examines the tasks, responsibilities, conditions and capabilities required for a job. Its findings support job descriptions, selection criteria, training and evaluation.

Example

An HR specialist interviews warehouse supervisors, observes work and reviews safety requirements before identifying the essential tasks and skills of a team-leader role.

What to keep in mind

Analyse the work rather than simply copying the current employee's background. Distinguish requirements that are essential on entry from skills that can reasonably be developed after appointment.
