Staff Augmentation

Staff augmentation adds external workers to an existing team to provide extra capacity or specific skills. The client typically coordinates their work alongside its own employees.

Example

A development team brings in two external testers for a release period while its internal manager continues to assign priorities and review results.

What to keep in mind

Distinguish this model from outsourcing a complete service with responsibility for outcomes. Clarify supervision, confidentiality, intellectual property and worker classification before giving external staff access to systems.
