Affinity Group

An affinity group brings together people who share an identity, experience or interest. In workplaces it may provide peer support and connection, and can overlap with an employee resource group.

Example

Employees with caring responsibilities form a group to exchange practical information and discuss common challenges affecting their working lives.

What to keep in mind

Clarify purpose, participation and confidentiality. A group can provide support but should not be treated as representing every person with that characteristic or as replacing formal routes for concerns.
