Employee Resource Group

An employee resource group, or ERG, is an employee-led group organised around a shared identity, experience or interest, usually with employer support. It may provide connection, advice and input on workplace practices.

Example

An accessibility ERG shares experiences and helps review barriers in internal events while individual accommodation requests remain with the appropriate formal process.

What to keep in mind

Participation should be voluntary and appropriately supported. ERGs should not be expected to replace HR's responsibilities or provide unpaid specialist work without time, resources and clear boundaries.
