Career Framework

A career framework describes roles, levels and expectations to help people understand development and progression. It connects capability requirements with possible moves across an organisation.

Example

An employer explains the difference between analyst and senior analyst through the complexity of work, independence and responsibility expected at each level.

What to keep in mind

Publish how decisions are made and what evidence is needed. A framework is less useful if promotion criteria are clear on paper but applied differently by each manager.
