Diagnostic Analytics

Diagnostic analytics investigates possible reasons for a recorded outcome. It uses comparisons, segmentation and other analysis to test explanations for changes in workforce measures.

Example

After absence increases, an analyst compares teams, shifts and dates, then checks whether the pattern coincides with schedule changes or seasonal illness.

What to keep in mind

Do not assume the first plausible explanation is correct. Interviews and operational context may be needed, and observational data rarely proves that one factor caused the change.
