Predictive Analytics

Predictive analytics uses historical data and statistical or machine-learning models to estimate future outcomes. In HR, it may support forecasts of hiring demand, absence or workforce availability.

Example

A planning model estimates next quarter's staffing shortfall using expected orders, seasonal demand and past absence patterns, with a range around the forecast.

What to keep in mind

A prediction is uncertain and can become inaccurate when conditions change. Evaluate error and bias, and avoid treating an individual employee's predicted behaviour as an established fact.
