Job Bands

Job bands group roles by a broadly comparable level of responsibility, complexity or contribution. They can support career structures and pay frameworks across different functions.

Example

An employer places several professional roles in the same band because their decision scope and organisational impact are comparable despite different specialisms.

What to keep in mind

A job band is a role classification, while a pay band describes a compensation range, though employers often connect them. Explain local terminology and how roles are assessed.
