Relocation Assistance

Relocation assistance is practical or financial support offered when a person moves for work. It may include moving expenses, temporary accommodation or help with settling into a new location.

Example

An employer pays approved removal costs and provides short-term accommodation while a new employee finds a permanent home near the workplace.

What to keep in mind

Confirm eligibility, limits, tax treatment and any lawful repayment conditions in writing. Relocation assistance is not automatically comprehensive, and employees should know which costs remain their responsibility before moving.
