Scenario Planning

Scenario planning explores several plausible future conditions and their implications. In HR, it helps prepare workforce responses when demand, technology or other important factors are uncertain.

Example

A company compares stable-demand, rapid-growth and reduced-demand scenarios, outlining different recruitment, training and redeployment actions for each one.

What to keep in mind

Scenarios are not predictions with guaranteed probabilities. Explain what would make each scenario relevant and decide which indicators should prompt the organisation to change its plan.
