Workforce Planning

Workforce planning compares the people and skills an organisation has with those it expects to need. It identifies gaps and actions such as hiring, development, redeployment or changing how work is done.

Example

A business forecasts more customer installations, checks its available technicians and decides whether to recruit, train existing staff or use temporary support.

What to keep in mind

Use explicit demand assumptions and revisit the plan as they change. Headcount is only one input; working hours, skills, location and the time needed to become competent also matter.
