Works Council

A works council is a worker-representation body with information, consultation or other rights under a country's arrangements. It is particularly associated with certain European employment systems.

Example

An employer informs and consults the relevant works council about a proposed organisational change according to the applicable legal and procedural requirements.

What to keep in mind

A works council is not automatically equivalent to a trade union or India's works committee. Its creation, powers and relationship with collective bargaining depend on the specific jurisdiction.
