Conflict Resolution

Conflict resolution addresses a disagreement or tension and seeks a workable way forward. Approaches can include direct discussion, clarification of responsibilities, mediation or formal procedures.

Example

A manager helps two teams resolve repeated handover disputes by clarifying responsibilities, deadlines and how exceptions should be escalated.

What to keep in mind

Identify the underlying issue rather than demanding that people simply get along. Serious allegations, unequal power or safety concerns may require a formal response instead of an informal compromise.
