Job Rotation

Job rotation moves employees through different tasks or roles for planned periods. It can build understanding, develop capability, provide cover or vary repetitive work.

Example

A graduate spends time in purchasing, production planning and logistics to learn how decisions in one area affect the others.

What to keep in mind

Define learning objectives, supervision and handover responsibilities for each rotation. Moving someone without adequate preparation can disrupt the receiving team and does not automatically broaden useful skills.
